In the past few weeks the temperature in my office started to get a little warm with summer and all. My psensor values for my AMD 3950X and Noctua Graphic 12 pipe air cooling was showing a difference of 10-15 celsius. Hmmmm... that should not be the case.
So, today, I pulled the desktop to my work benches and pulled off the heat sink and looked at the thermal paste and it was not even and somewhat scant. So I cleaned the heat sink alloy surface and re-applied Silver Arctic Thermal paste and reconnected, as well as, cleaned the fans and heat sink with an air compressor.
After doing that my temps between my edge and Tdie were within 2-3 degrees celsius. Much better!!
Keep an eye on your heat sensors on your high end computers. On my alienware, the other day I got a pump heat sensor warning and had to take that off the bench and clean that out and reseat everything. After that, all was well too.
