The year is 2020, and laptop prices were coming down, and no going back up.
$500 laptops in 2016 were headed to $250 and by 2018, they are steadily climbing back up to $500. Why?
No clue. It's just the market makers and their supply, demand, pricing, and profits.
If you buy a $500 laptop, break it somehow, and the real price for repair is more than $250, then replace, and if less, then repair.
Was it under warranty? What kind of warranty? If it's over 5 years old, best to replace and use the repair dollars on a new laptop.
