Surfing the Internet safely anymore is important. Your privacy is equally important.
To do so, use the TOR project browser. It is free, easy to download and somewhat easy to configure. it will keep your internet browser safe and private. Other browsers have inline privacy that you can choose to enable.
Oh, by the way, there is a new browser called BRAVE I just saw on PIRIFORM / FileHippo.com the other day. Pretty cool.
Thanks and have a safe Internet browsing day.
Here is a quick story where my privacy was breached using the standard Firefox, Chrome or IE.
I go to download my IRS records to refinance my house, and I type in the add bare directly the SSL website for the IRS (https://irs.gov) to get my information. It takes me 10-15 minutes to get past the PIN and other security measures which keeps me totally on their website, no other influence no two step authentication, no email confirmation, no texting to my cell phone. I am pretty aware of sniffers, so all my tabs and browsers, email and applications are closed because I believe some applications are aware of other applications.
Within a few minutes, I get two to three emails from fake IRS and fake Refinance companies asking me if I am interested in their offer, or making me aware of my refinance options.
Technical Hiccup Resolved
in case your TOR browser boots up saying something about Tor unexpectedly cannot start, fix the INI file called profiles.ini @ your installation directory, and in my case, C:\Users\username\Desktop\Tor Browser\Browser\TorBrowser\Data\Browser and change the StartWithLastProfile=1 and change that to 0. Then relaunch TOR and it will ask to import from a browser or skip, I chose skip and TOR opened back up.
