I have been doing quick purchases of computing electronics for my local clients as a reseller for 16 years, and the local set of stores have been phenomenal in their product selection and discounts at the right time, and warranty.
something has come to life, or maybe I am just now noticing. either way... coolness awaits you at Office Depot.
NOTE: Their inventory availability tracking is phenomenal too and I would say nearly 100% perfect. That is awesome and from where I come from, when the online website says 2 in stock and I go there and 2 are in stock, repeatedly their online count and in store count is perfect.
Finally, in late 2019, around November, something happened. Their rewards system changed to include technology purchases, not just office supplies and toner cartridges.
That is an amazing step forward. I am now seeing 1, 2 and 5% rewards on my technology purchases that can be applied on my next purchases.
What is amazing is now their online portal and account management, reward management is working so much better. For the longest time, over 5 years, maybe 10 years, the system was just clunky and I could not get a password reset to work, let alone see my purchases, etc.
Somebody somewhere finally got some group or team to work on their website and fix a bunch of broken stuff. That is great!! Now I feel so much better about Office Depot online and their local stores by 100 fold.
Plus, since we don't have a Fry's Electronics store around like our closest is Roseville or Rocklin, California, and I have asked in writing the owners three times and over the telephone for a mini-Fry's in Reno in the downtown old Plumb Lane mall property for the last 15 years, and they said they need 1 million clients within 25 square miles. I get it. That is why they have 2 each in Las Vegas area. I would be their technology GM in their version of Geek Squad that Best Buy tries to excel at yet falls and fails on expertise and repairs for good reasons but hey, that's life.
Maybe I could help Steve at his store #583 and the technology tune-up center in their store and bring Office Depot into the 2020-2030 era as Technology Depot and Office Depot on steroids. Just a thought!! We do tune-ups incredibly well with our GoGreen PC TuneUp technology and process. Who knows. Maybe I relocate Mountain Computers inside of the Office Depot in Northtowne #583... hehe.. that's a great business model, maybe..
Just noted, we have to get ODP stock price back up over $20 instead of going from $10 to $2 in the last 5 years. Yikes. Now is the time to either buy and/or reinvest. Who knows. Gut instincts tells me someone somewhere is looking at them as a solution provider and more if we re-invigorate their loyal customer base for local government and resellers and retail.
Back to Office Depot!!! Our local Northtowne store managed by a guy name Steve and his team are amazing. They have a great print center which I have used several times, and is one of the best stores in size and location in Northern Nevada, right off the freeway, next to Home Depot and is an anchor store in a 10 acre parcel next to Del Taco, with Winco, Walgreens CVS, Wells Fargo, Winco and more just in the same area, and now Ross. We used to have Walmart yet they left because of the inventory shrinkage, like Lowes on Oddie had to move for the same reason. How can you beat that?
re-iterated NOTE: Their inventory availability tracking is phenomenal too and I would say nearly 100% perfect. That is awesome and from where I come from, when the online website says 2 in stock and I go there and 2 are in stock, repeatedly their online count and in store count is perfect. I am an ex-Quartermaster US Army supply leader and that impresses me the most as well.
