My birthday AMD AM4 build is going to start like this:
- AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 8-Core 3.7 GHz (4.3 GHz Max Boost) Socket AM4 105W YD270XBGAFBOX Desktop Processor
- MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS Gaming Motherboard AMD AM4 SATA 6Gb/s M.2 USB 3.2 Gen 2 HDMI ATX
- CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 32GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Desktop Memory Model CMK32GX4M1D3000C16
Mind you, this build is ready to accept the AMD 3950X processor as a step up when the processor drops to less than $500 instead of ~$790
I might go with another 64GB of (2x32GB) of RAM and it was my wish.
** Remember, these motherboards accept and support 128GB of DDR4 RAM 2400-4000, so on and so forth, yet I support the proper matching of the CPU to RAM to Motherboard clocking speed. So 3000 is the sweet spot where it used to be 2400 in benchmark data sets and reports.
** Remember, if the motherboard supports 128GB of ram, then the first matched set in dual mode support should be 2x32GB and not something less than like 2x4, 2x8 or 2x16 is such a waste.
The case is up in the air, and the power supply must be a 600W or higher, video card undecided, and hard drive undecided, let alone operating system... the cooling system is the stock wraith and I'll update to a Kragen or something like water cooling.
If you do the math and notice NewEgg's list of continued 2x8 and 2x16 as the most prominent of memory configurations when in fact we should start pushing lower pricing of 2x32GB to line up with existing 4x32GB.
on 02/06/2020 NOTE: we replaced the stock AMD thermal paste with Arctic Fox Silver Thermal Paste. Dropped the CPU temp by 10C at idle. Instead of 27C it dropped to 12-17C. very cool, literally.

PS. 1TB should be the new desktop RAM standard by 2022 as well, yet we'll stick with 128GB for the 5 years, 32GB for the last 10 years.
