I have been using Paintshop Pro 8.1 OEM by JASC (aka PSP) for nearly 20 years, and then along came GIMP, and all my graphics friends were using Adobe PhotoShop. Needless to say, PhotoShop is awesome, expensive and cool.

For what I needed done, PSP 8.1 worked great, until I got layered images over 600MB. PhotoShop struggled yet PSP crashed. So, for light, fast and easy, PSP and/or GIMP.

Now comes PaintBrush 3D by Microsoft, a return from the Windows past, and I hear good things. Have I tried it? Nope.

Please feel free to see the PC World comparison. The result is PhotoShop as winner... 2 items tie, and 1 thing Gimp wins at.

I am using Adobe Photoshop CS4 for the last 10 years and it works. I did give up on PSP except when I need to open an old .pspimage file. PS CS4 works great.
