In review of leadership opportunities and challenges in the last 25 years, one is truly amazed at the re-user of old methodologies and turned into new nomenclatures and showcased as original.
The risks for all things considered in Leadership and Technology and
People is mostly about the psychology of how we approach problems with
solutions.
For example, the continuous improvement cycle evolves and is invoked at most organization regardless of the size and complexity of the industry.
The agile and lean management thinking can be applied at many levels throughout many organizations.
Does that threaten old thinking? It should not. Yet change of the existing can be fearful for some. Some might believe an end to their status quo when in fact, if you don't move forward, one is lost in the past, covered up with dust and forgotten about.
Legacy systems and technology also has a place in our present. For example, AS/400 systems are still in play in major organizations. IBM/360 is also running strong and hard in some big Fortune 100 and 500 companies.
How do you keep and hire, and replace talent to address legacy applications and the migration to newer systems? Being old does not mean its bad, and being new does not mean better.
The risks for all things considered in Leadership and Technology and People is mostly about the psychology of how we approach problems with solutions.
