Over the weekend, while migrating some systems, we noticed disk space as a premium, and made adjustments to move and archive off some data.
Was it easy? Not really? Did we copy and paste, versus move? absolutely.
The challenge was the destination NAS did not for some reason respect date/time folder preservation. We had to adjust our copy technique to achieve mirror and copy protection.
Did we need encryption? we could have but the information was benign, no PII or top secret stuff. Just ordinary CAD drawings for non-government agencies. If it were government or some federal or state thing, we would definitely lock it up and encrypt it.
