Windows 10 updates, why so long to realize it needed attention

This morning, the windows updates brought up a nice advanced window on how to manage my updates, yes, the v1903 window showed a nice advanced way to delay, change install time of day, reverse course, and review history. Very nicely done!
Why did it take so long for someone at Microsoft to figure this out? The automated mentality of you just have to your medicine and like it mentality just does not work for most users these days.
We have choices. Back in the day, there were few choices, but today, there are tons of choices.
I prefer more choices, yet the delay in a basic and advanced viewing of the Windows Updates was long overdue. It should have been rolled out day 1.
