This just came across my radar, Google Chrome eating up RAM, uh... yeah.. welll duh!!

TRUE.

In the last two years, Google Chrome and Firefox have both become memory hogs. Why? I have no clue.

I just see the memory load for Chrome just skyrocket on launch. 64 bit versus 32 bit, browser or OS, it does not matter. and if you hit a malware popup, it really gets crazy.

someone at techradar finally had enough and posted this:

as far as I am concerned, I just have to live with it, sort of because I do turn off allow google chrome and other browsers to run in the background, and I do turn off hardware acceleration.

I do go through the options and turn off some of the things like send my anonymous data to google at all times of the day and night. There are others who I am sure can do that for me.

Occasionally I do refresh both, and click Help About on each to make sure the latest version is downloaded and installed, and I run CCleaner and really do a good cleanup of each browser on a monthly basis.

My GoGreen PC TuneUp does some things to alleviate the bloatware, but nothing directly as of now.

more to come...
