About 2 months ago, I ran into some local casino execs who were shall I say, enjoying a moment on the casino floor having an ice tea observing the action. I wandered over and introduced myself.

After a few minutes of chit chat, thanking them for such a wonderful operations, I said, you know your IT security and network security is pretty bad. They did not acknowledge it at first, but asked me to explain. I told them of two obvious security holes, and now after 30 days, a job posting for that casino group is now open for a IT network and systems security expert for their operations. Bravo!! Good job guys.

Now if I go back in the next 30-60 days and see the same issues, I might mention it. I noticed the problems about 6 months ago, and then confirmed them just by pure observation of the casino floor. It was easy and the staff were vaguely aware of the resultant problem but not aware of the security issues within and underneath.

Let's just say, a few systems are wide open door for issues. I won't name them. If they don't know it now, they will soon enough.

note: City of Reno had a possibility of this too, but I alerted them over a year ago, and low and behold, hmmmm, nationwide it made the news, but nope, did not come to pass in Reno thankfully (i sort of know why too.. i tipped them off while renewing my business license and the credit card processing swiper, very unsecure)...

I just hope they don't get ransom-wared. I really love the entertainment factors of these casinos. Where else in the world can you live and enjoy the history, the glitz, the ambience.

more to come...
