US Flags at half staff, now all the time - wasted energy

while out on a walk this morning, all the US Flags were at half staff. this tends to be a going trend more often than not. why not just have them at half staff all the time, or just put the flag back up where it belongs.
the world has gone crazier because now we have instant world news and know about everything all the time that the media deems newsworthy.
back in the day, it took a a week, a month, 6 months to a year to hear about something and then it was a non-issue anyhow.
just leave the US Flag at full height and continue on...
