For many, what should and can I do with my old tech, and support existing old tech?

it's rather simple. for AMD, let me share a quick build that works. an old MSI FM2 A4 mobo died and the previous builder was rather, shall I say, weird. the components were CMS mode but that did not matter; the problem was the obtuse ram, heat sink and processor. the board was fine, except now nearly 8 years old. back in that day, great. but he bundled and strapped some bad things to it.

go ahead and do something like this.. the pricing may vary so this is an estimate that can include S/H.

N68C-GS4-FX Motherboard -- $65
AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2 Ghz Processor -- $75
Rosewill RCX-Z1 - Long Life Ball Bearing CPU Cooler / 92 mm Silent Cooler with Aluminum Heat Sink  - $40
8GB DDR3 1066 RAM (1 stick)  -- $70

oh.. the power supply is/was a 430W/450W.. which is fine..
