so the end of year for 2018 reporting is at hand for most employers, so by all means, keep the IT maintenance starting back at the beginning of the year away from these next vital dates and weeks around them. just let things cruise along and make sure backups are in place. Redundant, duplicates, and other forms of shadow backups are always recommended.
You always have to be on guard to manage your IT maintenance windows to not affect financial and accounting activities. For example tax reporting and payroll windows; Don't make your CFO, Treasurer, Controller or A/P or A/R staff upset with sudden changes in your IT policies.
these are the hard dates not to mess with in the IT business (1 week before and after):
1. Jan 31st
2. Feb. 15th
3. March 15th
4. April 15th
depending on your reporting schedules either annual or fiscal, this might change.
Clear your calendar. No vacations during these critical date windows. Be prepared to recover and travel if need be. Have backup and restore plans easily available and Plan B always known by all.
Watch your log files carefully and "Steady as she goes..."
