I remember Windows 3.1, XP,  95 and more... while at Microsoft Corporation in Redmond Washington. Now many of my colleagues, includes some ex-employees who loved Microsoft Windows 7 and would not let go even at the office when I switched to Windows 10 (Home/Professional, not Enterprise yet).

While the end of life is Jan 2020, like XP and Windows 95, it continued for years through corporate secondary agreements and contracts. Look at Ford, GM, the US Government. They have hundreds of thousands of developers (some that I know) that never really tested their code on Windows 10 and that security model.

For me, I wrote most of my software on code with APIs that are generic across operating systems, even running on Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, and 8.x and Windows 10.

The budgets will soar and the bugs will be a plenty. But like that old car in the garage, its time to retire it and move forward.

I for one appreciate the free Windows 10 upgrades a few years back and then the massive bugs that have hit the industry, and like all applications even antivirus programs; developers are only as good as their testing permits. Long Live Windows 7, just like Windows XP.

more to come...
