so I took the plunge to put my development system on an SSD drive.
first step,
#1 wait for the SSD of the right size to come down in price. check! WD 500GB SSD $60
second step,
#2 relocate (robocopy) 550GB of the 900GB on my C drive and relocate to my new 2TB FireCuda 7200 SATA III drive, leaving only the necessary development and web files there. check! check!
ps. command is robocopy {source drive} {destination drive}/mir /w:0 /r:0 /xj /copy:dat /dcopy:t
wrapping up and seeing the results:
#3, now that my boot drive is now 276GB instead of 900GB full I can clone using Partition Wizard in a few days and boot up... let's see if it still takes 1.9 hours to add an index to 1.5B rows on an added column tinyint nullable column (ugh) .. plus, my compile times should not take 5-7 seconds but instead 1 second.. can't wait.. triple check!!
more to come...
