The Internet is evolving pretty slowly right now; the main components are still the same, yet the cloud based components are moving too quickly. There are serious flaws being exposed and the ramifications are not yet know.
What's important are your cloud based services and the integrity of those services. The most important components are:
1. Domain Registration Security
2. Domain Name Services Security
3. Network Routing Security
4. Server level Integrity Services Security
5. Authentication and Accounting of Software Access Level Security
** Ownership control of all resources is paramount at all times.
** There should be a CRASH-OVERRIDE protocol developed when things go badly.
** Backups! Backups! Backups! should be layered and fully augmented, ghosted and hidden away.
One must maintain all those requirements at all times; with backups, redundancy, etc.
