in 1991, i moved from Oregon Army National Guard in Meford Oregon to Washington Army National Guard in Ballard Washington when I graduated from OIT in Klamath Falls Oregon and relocated to Bellevue, Washington.
I did that for 1.5 years until the motor pool mechanics could not believe I wanted to be there... they said I was too smart because I worked at Microsoft and did not fit in.. I disagreed, but they gave me guff.. too much...
Sad, so I tried to switch to S1 or military intelligence and there was no openings and the CO said it was probably a good idea I just depart. I was wanting to stay on and enjoyed working in motor pool on one weekend per month and then the rest of the month working at Microsoft in Bellevue/Redmond. alas, it did not work out.
so I switched from Army National Guard to IRR (inactive ready reserve for the remaining 2 years of my 12 year commitment)... too bad.. i really loved the service to our country.
