This last week I had the opportunity to work on one of my legacy systems; a vintage 2008 PC designed by Mountain Computers. The cool thing is that Windows 10 was running pretty good except for huge latency on the hard drives.
The specs were:
* Intel Celeron Quad Core 2.0Ghz
* 8GB DDR3 1833 RAM (1 of 2 slots) SODIMM
* Seagate 750GB platter HDD drive
The cool part, the drive while nearly 14 years old, I just cloned to a 250GB SSD since the client was only using 5GB of disk space, and voila! Instead of 5-7 minutes to boot and run Windows 10 updates, it took just a little over 15 seconds now. I looked for another 8GB of DDR3 1833 SODIMM yet I did not have one. Bummer.
Oh well. It good to go for another 2 years for a $40 part and one hour to TLC.
