With the speed at which AI and ML is progressing, will SQL keep up with the evolution of data processing?
Does on-prem servers really work better than those in the cloud at Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWS? Yes and no? Maybe?
I find that processing speed, ETL and ELT is best in the cloud processing environment, yet the storage requirements can be daunting to manage and handle. Pushing 100GB to 1TB of data into the cloud, okay, that needs some thinking and massive symmetric bandwidth, yet once its there up on some S3 store, then process your jobs and get your results and dump the data...right? wrong?
I am working through that right now. Stand by as more of us consider impacts of doing this on local resources versus cloud resources. Back in 2018, we decided on AWS versus AZURE for great reasons, yet now, we have to pivot and re-evaluate our options.
