Twitter politeness - mutual respect

Today was interesting on twitter, while posting some updates on products and services, programming progress, and then doing some testing; the twitter politics was interesting.
I noted and commented on a political question, and a few folks chimed back to me how stupid and dumb one can be, and I respectfully replied and said, given experience on both sides of the situation, I can respect an outcome that can be different than one expects. Meaning, when I was 20 years old, I was naive like the person commenting to me, and as I got older, I became more open to two different sides of any situation and story.
Kindly enough a few came to my support and noted that we all want mutual goodness and that there is chaos and crazy out there beyond our immediate control.
I tendered my firm grasp that I respected their difference and asked the same from them.
