I have been building AMD 5600G systems and today on NewEgg I saw the Intel i5-12600K on sale. I noticed the price at about $280 for the processor and noted the 10 core, and thought, what? oh 6 CPU, 4 GPU. So I had to dig in a little because I have built quite a few 5600G systems and wanted to know if the 12600K was worth the bother.

The short answer, Nope.  The Intel vs AMD integrated graphics race, AMD wins hands down. Sadly, I would have loved the comparison yet why waste the time and money when integrated graphics is good for most business office users. However, if you are a heavy GIS and others types of graphics video editing, then a discrete above board GPU is required.

So, the Intel 12600K vs the AMD 3600G, the AMD wins by 10-15% on most scores, and since I use the 5600G the range of benefit extends to 20-25% better performance over the 12600K.
