VPN technology and the need for speed

I have a bunch of clients and they use some interesting VPN choices - which do you use?
me, router OEM selections; cisco, sonicwall, bullguard, etc.
the open and commercial ones that I support yet don't use;
* express
* nord
* global
* tor
Now add in the need for speed rather than a 20-30-50-70% performance throughput drop; I would say, Nord says they are the fastest, okay, and express if you select a city locale rather than where you really are; you get a faster throughput; yet, if in Portland Oregon, choose San Francisco as your VPN route and voila, 20-30% faster; really.
