Cybersecurity and threats being monitored at a high level

I have been monitoring cybersecurity threats for years, and in the last few months, not much has changed. I believe our networks and upstream providers are doing a good job to throttle and do some IPS and IDS prevention on the edge way ahead of our systems. That is a good thing. For our applications and services that are directly exposed, just be sure to have redundant backups and security patches are the latest. Though zero day is sometimes inevitable, just be on the look out and don't be a big target. Keep your attack surface extremely small and tight.

For those with ransomware that I have known, they were totally exposed and just wide open, yeah, some of my it friends at top levels, yet they were never that good at systems, engineering, and security. they were just good at management meetings; alas, sadly.

well, whatever, its takes all kinds. just do your backups, be kind, good karma and call a spade a spade, and don't settle for lazy management folks. Happy Friday.

remember, keep it simple stupid, and obfuscate, obfuscate, obfuscate... backups, backups, backups...

more to come...
