HP Elitebook laptops and the power button ribbon cable problem

I have found a serious problem with the HP Elitebook power button and motherboard ribbon connector problem. What I have found is that over time the power button starts to not work effectively, and the ribbon cable to the motherboard needs to be flicked and disconnected and reconnected a few times for some reason. No explanation.
