I can't tell you enough how many times documentation comes in handy for lots of reasons.
1. critical recovery of systems
2. administrative access to systems and resources
3. topology of an organization for lots of different things
4. innovation log books to record those epiphanies that come to you
5. a blog to show progress and help with your recall of vital bits of information
