Occasionally I have to get involved with Domain DNS management for clients and here are the top problems that should never happen:
1. domain - expires
2. ssl certificate - expires
3. domain owner - is not the owner
4. dns entries - old, wrong, stale, not recorded in case of error
5. domain holder - is not a registrar - is a reseller
any one of these can be avoided if the proper protocols are in place. if you experience any of these, then there is a serious set of outages set to occur once or twice annually that could be avoided.
what do you do? the opposite of what the issue is - fix each and monitor. as a metaphor - don't let the title of your domain be given to a title loan company. make sure it stays with the real owner and the title company only.
