I regularly check backup configurations to make sure they are accurate, even when the backup messaging states Backup Success. Well, today, I noticed the backup details was not showing. Odd.
Backup Logs Inaccessible was the message. Odd was my response.
There are dedicated backup drives assigned to the system (with and without drive letters mapped). So I looked at the one mapped and the one un-mapped, and sure enough, the error was due to both being un-mapped. I mapped the one that needed it and voila. Logs came back and I did an instant backup after reviewing the history of the backups, and only 2 failures in 30 days.
For windows; I leverage the built-in server backup, as well as, ghosted secondcopy and other obfuscated methods.
For Linux; dd, timeshift, and rsync are worthy of my attention.
The article below gave me the idea to double check the drive mapping instead of all the hoopla that Microsoft support made him jump through.
