A lawyer client of mine is resistant to change yet loves to just be the great lawyer (like an artist) in the world.

2-3 times per day in the past few months, totally locking up and freezing, on Windows 7.  Well, he did not save consistently and auto-save was not saving his bacon, so it was more like a yelling and screaming match at his computer and support person. He wanted a new computer, and that I knew would not fix it. He needed a totally new legal writing platform. Well, guess what....

Well, his WordPerfect v12 which I had guessed was circa 2005 was actually circa 1998. Well, since he has been on Windows 7 forever, and v12 WordPerfect forever, I was seriously worried, he would bock at change.

Well, lo and behold, the WordPerfect versions changed hands a few times, and is back to version 2020. A few years back is was basically defunct, and I was like, time to switch, yet so many people just love WordPerfect. My first ex-father-in-law loved Word 5.0 for DOS because of Transfer / Load and would never change.

Basically Luddites on steroids exist everywhere. Even me, I hate change when unnecessary.

So, I basically broke down and said, okay, cross our fingers and hope to die if this client does not like the upgrade from v12 to 2020. All of us eventually just check out and call it good, our life of Windows 1.0 versus Windows 10.

I even had to upgrade his Windows 7 (doa 2020, end of life 2015), to Windows 10, and that was going to be a huge shift in his lunch box.
