In the past few years, drive cloning from platter to platter was the thing to do to extent the life of your PC without having to reload your operating system, reload your applications, etc.
Now with SSD drives and the performance improvements, the same thing applies. Just clone your existing platter spindle drive to an SSD Drive and voila, faster, better performance.
Yet you still need to backup your data and your drives if you are smart and careful.
The clone tools I have used and use are:
* EASEUS
* Partition Magic
* Acronis
* DD
* Windows Image backup and restore
* CloneZilla
* Runtime Drive XML
