Have you ever worked on special projects? I have, lots of them.
Did I volunteer? Absolutely! Why? because the way to improve is to diversify yourself in your craft, skills and profession.
There is a way to look at your life - you can be both deep and wide in your experiences and wisdom; a renaissance man per se; to be skilled and experienced in lots of things. This is quite the opposite of the saying, "a jack of all trades and master of none."
In fact, one should be diverse in their fields of interest and practice, and expertise in a few of them and go very deep on the subject.
So this comes to special projects - get involved in them in your organization, team, hobby clubs and explore. Be a life long student and remain curious and practice, practice, practice. Learn. Share. Care.
