Another day in the life of build to order, and what folks are saying and asking for:

1. lots of RAM
2. SSD drives
3. they are unsure of their graphics requirements (GPU)

so, I always come back and say:

1. 8 or 16GB DDR4 or DDR3
2. 250GB or 500GB SSD
3. 1050Ti or higher or RX 570 or higher

The price difference and availability matters. The RAM matters a lot, yet the gap is minimal in pricing as well as the SSD drive choice and then the GPU is a matter of availability; which is rather short right now.

as a side note, the choice of AMD versus Intel? I am siding with AMD Ryzen 2700X or 3700X or Intel i7 9700K or 8700K depending on supplier, and maybe 10700. The socket 1200 or AM4 socket, I might opt for a Phenom 955 x4 in a basic build. Yes, the AMD Phenom 955 X4 is still a viable quad core 3.2Ghz choice.
