8TB storage drives and larger - failure rates

Upon replacing a few dozen 4TB hard drives with 8TB hard drives in three storage arrays, the replacements had a defective rate of 1 in 7. We had 3 drives just fail right out of their sealed packages. Interesting.
Well, I won't mention the manufacturer nor vendor yet the reseller was happy to replace them free of charge, shipping and handling both ways.
