0 bytes, 450 FTP over TLS resumption issue in Filezilla Server, F4 upload using Coffee Cup HTML Editor

April 14, 2018

This is a technical note for those of using Coffee Cup HTML Editor and FileZilla Server.

Coffee Cup HTML Editor does not know how to manage FileZilla Server FTP over TLS resumption.

Files you are trying to publish via Coffee Cup HTML Editor are showing up on the server as 0 bytes.

Yet, FileZilla Client uploading files to the same FileZilla server works just fine. Hmmm.. Could it be passive mode or active mode, a firewall settings, or something else? Could it be the certificate acknowledgement? Not really. It's rather interesting. It's the resumption option in Filezilla Server for FTP over TLS.

Let's look at the logs for a moment.

Are getting the error message in your FileZilla Server logs?

- > 450 TLS session of data connection has not resumed or the session does not match the control connection

It has to do with your FileZilla Server FTP over TLS settings that TLS session resumption is enabled.

Disable Require TLS session resumption on data connection when using PROT P and the problem is solved.

end of technical note.
