In the past 30 days most of the computers that I have supported, that were recently purchased by my clients had SATA III drives in them, and 5400 RPM. That was a ripoff. Even three computers from Costco, and two from Office Depot, and a few from Best Buy.

Why are suppliers putting in 5400 RPM SATA III drives into workstations and selling them at top dollar?

I commented to a friend, this is the 21st century, right?

Anyhow, don't get scammed on computer systems that still have platter drives at slow speeds at top dollar.

Here are my specifications that I give to most shoppers and clients whereas I don't built and sell them my systems.

1. Case - slimline, atx, full atx - DIY - $50-100
2. Power Supply - 500-650 watt - $55-75
3. Motherboard - AM3, AM4, 1155, 1151 - $100-$150
4. Processor - 8 core or higher - AMD Ryzen 5 or 7, Intel i5 or i7, say no to i3 or ryzen 3 - $100 - $250 -
5. Ram - 16GB or higher - DDR3 or DDR4 - (2x8), (1x32), (2x16) - G.Skill or Corsair - $75-$150
6. Hard Drive - 500GB - 1 TB - SSD or NVMe m.2 2280 - 500GB or 1TB - Samsung or Crucial - $60-$120
7. Operating System - Windows 10 Pro 64 bit or Linux Mint or Peppermint OS - $0

That's about it.
