Back in 1987, I started programming in C++ and Assembly. Prior to that it was Pascal, Fortran, Cobol, some variations of CP/M and Basic.
Fast forward 30+ years, and I am still in some variations of C#, C++, and now back to some COBOL, Visual Basic, and yes, FoxPro?
FoxPro? Yep. FoxPro.
My last big project was 1990 writing FoxPro for a Dentist office in Oregon as a junior project, one of three programmers. There was Mark, Shawn, and me. Well, Mark and me, for the most part. It was our junior project.
I loved FoxPro. It was fast, had great documentation support, and great database support.
In 2020, I am now looking back at legacy applications that I have implemented and still are running, from VBA and COBOL, to some other languages as FoxPro, ASP, OLE-DB, MSSQL.
Yikes. Try and reload these legacy compilers and tools on Windows 10 64 bit and you will have some crazy fun. Its doable, just tricky.
Anyhow, back to FoxPro. Last month it was COBOL.
